Summer School 2007

With lots of new faces at this year's Summer School it was an exciting time for all involved.  The old timers enjoyed teaching all the newbies the tricks of the trade, and the new recruits seemed to relish in the whole experience.

Large group scenes made way for monologues and duologues this year.  The students always enjoy being challenged, and boy did they rise to the occasion every time.  Song choices were again varied, with current pop hits, musical theatre songs, and even an old school classic being chosen by the students.

Roll on summer 2008!

Summer School 2006

Yet another successful Summer School under our belts, with nearly 50 students taking part - again we had to turn some people away due to the high demand for places, so that's a hint for next year guys . . . get signed up early.

As always, the students worked extremely hard over the week and put together an entertaining show for their parents on the Friday night - as with previous years, learning those dreaded lines is always the hardest thing. Again, the night was make up of  various solo poems, duologues, group poems and scenes.  In addition, the students chose their two favourite songs to sing. This year's choices were just as colourful and varied as previous years - we had some Queen, Sum 41 and even a Club Dance Anthem.

With another successful Summer School behind them, the students are looking forward to the next one.

previous Summer Schools

Both 2004 and 2005 Summer Schools were a raging success.  During the week, the students rehearsed a selection of things: Individual poems and monologues, group scenes, a fairytale or two, and even a mini-panto.

Lets not forget the fun they had singing and dancing to a selection of songs that they chose themselves.  Every time I let the students loose on selecting songs they never fail to amaze me with their choices - we've had everything from Gwen Stefani to Willy Wonka, and S Club 7 to Greenday. But at the end of a long, hard week, both the parents and children had smiles on their faces - so it's always a case of a job well done!
